Almost 400 vacationers, together with 13 from Bangladesh, had been rescued by the Indian Air Drive (IAF) and Military from the Lachen and Lachung cities in North Sikkim on Monday, officers stated.
The MI-17 and Chinook helicopters of the IAF carried out 10 sorties, transferring 354 vacationers out of the disaster-hit areas, they stated.
These vacationers had been dropped at Pakyong airport, they added.
The Military shifted 45 vacationers from Lachen to Mangan on helicopters, officers stated.
These vacationers had been stranded in Lachen and Lachung after a cloudburst over Lhonak Lake in Mangan district on Wednesday induced a flash flood in Teesta river, devastating a number of cities and villages throughout the Himalayan state, they stated.
The operation to rescue vacationers stranded within the affected areas will resume once more on Tuesday, officers stated.
