The Nigerian Navy, Ahead Operation Base, Ibaka, in Akwa Ibom has arrested two suspects and impounded their picket boat laden with 5,100 litres of petrol.
Commanding officer of the bottom, Uche Aneke, handed over the suspects, the boat and the petrol over to the Nigeria Safety and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Ibaka on Sunday.
Mr Aneke, a navy captain, stated a patrol staff of the Navy arrested the suspects on Feb. 22 following intelligence report about suspected smuggling actions within the space.
“Patrolling Naval gunboats had been deployed to intercept the picket boat.
“Within the boat had been the 2 suspected smugglers and 5,100 litres of petrol hid beneath baggage of yams, cartons of drinks, different drinks and several other cartons of flooring tiles, all coated with tarpaulin,” he stated.
Mr Aneke warned people and teams concerned within the unlawful enterprise to desist or put together to face the wrath of the regulation.
He additionally warned criminals to avoid Nigeria’s territorial waters, stressing that safety businesses wouldn’t condone unlawful actions within the nation’s coastal areas.
