New Delhi: Union Minister Shantanu Thakur on Saturday firmly acknowledged that the Citizenship Modification Act (CAA) can be applied “on the earliest” and he asserted that these opposing the laws are pushed by political motives, information company PTI reported.
Thakur, who had beforehand claimed final Sunday that the CAA can be rolled out nationwide “inside per week”, confronted criticism from West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. She accused the BJP of “opportunistically elevating” the CAA challenge simply forward of the Lok Sabha elections and affirmed that she would “by no means permit its implementation within the state so long as she is alive”, PTI reported.
