In a significant development, the Delhi High Court will launch a live streaming feature for court proceedings starting from Wednesday (October 11). The live streaming will be available for Court 1, presided over by Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma, from 10.30 am onwards. This initiative will be conducted on a case-by-case basis, as per the directions of the High Court. The live streaming link can be accessed on the official website of the Delhi High Court, https://delhihighcourt.nic.in, under the title “LIVE STREAMING.” It is important to note that the content of the live streaming is for informational purposes only and should not be considered as the official record of the court proceedings. Furthermore, unauthorized entities, including print, electronic media, and social media platforms, are strictly prohibited from recording, sharing, or disseminating the live-streamed proceedings or archival data. This move towards live streaming is a part of the High Court’s efforts to enhance transparency, inclusivity, and accessibility to justice. The “Live Streaming and Recording of Court Proceedings Rules of the High Court of Delhi, 2022” were published in the official gazette on January 13, after which they came into effect. The definition of live streaming is broad and encompasses live television links, webcasts, audio-video transmissions via electronic means, or any other arrangements that allow individuals to view the proceedings according to these rules.
