Excessive rigidity gripped Khanapara space on the Guwahati border as police halted Rahul Gandhi’s Bharath Jodo Nyay Yatra on Tuesday. Amidst chaos between police and Congress staff making an attempt to enter the town, regardless of having sought permission, the administration has denied entry on seemingly frivolous grounds. The Yatra, which entered Meghalaya on Monday, returned to Assam for its final leg and journey via the outskirts of the state’s largest metropolis Guwahati. The Yatra, which began from Manipur on January 14, will culminate in Mumbai on March 20 or 21.
On Monday, Rahul Gandhi was denied entry into an Assam temple, and Congress claimed that it was denied permission to carry a roadshow or ‘padyatra’ (foot march) in the primary metropolis by the police.
Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to deal with a press convention at Damdama in Kamrup district, about 75 km from Guwahati, the place the Yatra can have its lunch break.
Throughout Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi stated “I needed to come back to your college and discuss to you, perceive what you might be dealing with and attempt to see in my very own little manner if I may have helped you. The Residence Ministry of India referred to as up the CM of Assam and the CM’s workplace referred to as up the management of your college and stated that Rahul Gandhi should not be allowed to talk to the scholars of this college.”
“It’s not necessary if Rahul Gandhi comes or doesn’t come. What’s necessary is that you’re allowed to hearken to anyone you need to hearken to. This isn’t solely taking place in Assam however in each single college, school or faculty in India..,” he added.
