The newly-revealed crest pays tribute to the numerous contributions of the folks of Manipur to India’s independence, sovereignty, and safety.

Designed by the Warship Design Bureau and constructed by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, INS Imphal stands as a beacon of indigenous excellence. The destroyer is armed with cutting-edge weapons and sensors, reflecting the strides made by the Indian Navy in enhancing its maritime capabilities.
The commissioning of INS Imphal comes 4 years after its launch in Mumbai, marking a notable milestone within the Indian Navy’s modernisation efforts. Final December, the Indian Navy noticed a considerable increase with the induction of INS Mormugao, additional fortifying the maritime defences. Protection Minister Rajnath Singh personally included INS Mormugao within the Navy, emphasising the strategic significance of such additions to safeguard India’s maritime borders.
The warship, commissioned subsequent month, stands as one of the crucial technologically superior globally. With a powerful 75% indigenous content material, it boasts a spread of capabilities, together with medium-range surface-to-air missiles, BrahMos surface-to-surface missiles, indigenous torpedo tube launchers, anti-submarine indigenous rocket launchers, and a 76 mm tremendous fast gun mount (SRGM).
